Protection where standard switches reach their limits
In garages, basements, workshops, utility rooms, or sheltered outdoor areas, switches and sockets are exposed to different conditions than in dry living spaces. This is precisely where the IP44 protection rating demonstrates its strengths: the first digit (4) indicates protection against solid foreign objects larger than 1mm, while the second digit (4) signifies protection against splashing water from any direction. Consequently, an IP44 switch or socket offers defined, additional protection for installation locations where the presence of moisture cannot be ruled out. In the case of sockets, a hinged cover supports this protective design by sealing the socket opening when it is not in use.
The installation can also be functionally tailored to specific requirements. Two-way switches are used, for instance, when lighting needs to be controlled from two different locations. A double switch, on the other hand, combines controls for two separate circuits at a single point - a practical solution for operating two lights or lighting groups. A bell push-button is available for momentary switching, while a pilot light switch with an LED indicator provides visual confirmation of the switching status. The product range thus covers not only standard lighting and power connections but also offers various solutions for a functionally designed electrical installation in damp environments.
More functionality in a compact footprint: double sockets and combination units
Not every installation requirement is best met by individual components. Often, a power connection and a switching function are needed right next to each other, or two socket outlets need to be available in a compact space. Dual-socket units and switch/socket combinations provide the perfect solution for this. Depending on the available space, they can be arranged either vertically or horizontally. This offers greater planning flexibility: a horizontal version works well along a work surface, for instance, while a vertical combination takes up minimal wall width. Double sockets with hinged lids provide two connection points in a single compact unit, eliminating the need to mount multiple individual surface-mounted housings side by side.
Practical sets for various applications are also available. Their main advantage lies in their coordinated configuration: there is no need to assemble individual components yourself, as they come ready-made as functional units tailored to specific use cases. At the same time, the selection remains flexible - ranging from single surface-mounted sockets or switches and various switching functions to vertical and horizontal combinations. This allows the "SECURE IP44 Surface-Mounted" range for damp areas to be configured to suit everything from individual switching and connection points to more extensive installations.
